JourneyReady Terms of Use
Effective date: 2026-10-23 · Last updated: 2026-10-23 · https://journeyready.ca/terms
These Terms are written in plain language. Please read them. They're an agreement between you and us about using the JourneyReady app and website.
1. Who we are
JourneyReady is run by Jerson Antonio Cruz-Alvarez, a sole proprietor operating as JourneyReady, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada ("we", "us"). Contact: support@journeyready.ca.
2. Accepting these Terms
By downloading, installing or using JourneyReady (including a beta version), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
3. Apple's licence agreement
You get the app from Apple's App Store. Your licence to use it is granted under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). These Terms add to the Standard EULA. If they conflict about your licence to use the app, the Standard EULA applies to the extent of the conflict. Apple's own terms also apply to your App Store account, purchases and downloads. You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app (for example, your Apple account and mobile-data terms).
4. What JourneyReady is, and isn't
- JourneyReady is an independent study aid for welder apprentices (Alberta Periods 1–3) and anyone preparing for the interprovincial Red Seal Welder (456A) exam.
- It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT), the Government of Alberta, the Red Seal Program / CCDA, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), NAIT, SAIT or any school or government body.
- No pass guarantee. Our practice questions are original, not official exam questions, and we can't guarantee exam results.
- Not a substitute for official materials or training. Use JourneyReady alongside your technical training, your instructors, and the official information from your apprenticeship authority. In Alberta, that's tradesecrets.alberta.ca; for the Red Seal exam, see red-seal.ca.
- Safety content is for study only. It is not a substitute for workplace safety training, your employer's safe work procedures, the law, or the manufacturer's instructions and safety data sheets for your equipment and materials. Always follow those on the job.
- We work to keep the content accurate and up to date, but mistakes can happen and standards change. If you spot an error, please tell us (see section 15).
5. Your licence to use the content
- We (and our licensors) own the app and its content, including the questions, answers, explanations, lessons, narration, illustrations and calculators.
- We give you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable licence to use the content in the app for your own study, on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by Apple's terms.
- You may not:
- copy, publish, share, sell, resell, rent or license the question bank or other content, in whole or in large part;
- scrape, harvest or bulk-extract content, by hand or with bots, scripts, screenshots or other automated tools;
- use the content to build a competing product, a question bank or a dataset, including training AI models;
- reverse-engineer or modify the app, except as the law allows despite this restriction;
- remove our notices, or the credits and licence notices of third parties.
- Some content is used under the Open Government Licence – Alberta, or cites public standards and references owned by others. Their owners' terms continue to apply to that material.
- Instructors and schools: we don't offer group or classroom licences yet. If you'd like to use the content in a class, email us first.
6. Beta versions and feedback
- Beta (TestFlight) versions are test builds. They may have bugs, missing features or wrong content, and they stop working when the test ends. Beta testers must be 18 or older. Apple's TestFlight terms also apply.
- Feedback: if you send us suggestions, corrections or other feedback, you let us use it to improve JourneyReady without payment or credit. Please don't send us real exam questions or any confidential exam material. If you do, we'll delete it.
7. Purchases and refunds
- JourneyReady is free to download. Some content is unlocked with one-time in-app purchases (for example, a Period Pass or All-Access). The App Store shows the current prices and what each purchase includes before you buy. Price changes don't affect purchases you've already made.
- Apple processes all payments. Apple's terms apply to your purchase. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account; use Restore Purchases in the app to restore them on another device. Family Sharing isn't available for these purchases.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. To ask for one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose "Request a refund" (Apple's refund help). Apple decides eligibility under its terms. You keep any rights you have under consumer protection law.
- If something you bought doesn't work, please also email us so we can fix it.
- Promotional or thank-you codes are redeemed through Apple, have no cash value, and follow Apple's offer-code terms.
8. Changes to the app and to these Terms
- The app: we update JourneyReady to fix errors, improve content and keep up with curriculum changes. Updates may correct, replace or reorganize questions and lessons. We won't remove content you've paid for so that you're left with substantially less than you bought, except to fix errors or for legal or safety reasons. If that ever happens, contact us.
- These Terms: we may update these Terms. We'll post the new version at this address with a new "Last updated" date. For important changes, we'll also mention them in the app's update notes. Changes apply from the date posted and don't apply to disputes that started before then. If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using the app.
9. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, JourneyReady is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will meet every study need. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty, condition, right or remedy that the law says can't be excluded or limited, including your rights under the Alberta Consumer Protection Act and the consumer protection laws of the province or territory where you live.
10. Limits on our liability
To the extent permitted by law:
- we're not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses (for example, lost wages or opportunities, or exam re-write fees) arising from your use of the app; and
- our total liability to you for all claims relating to the app is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for JourneyReady purchases in the 12 months before the claim, and (b) CA$50.
These limits don't apply where the law doesn't allow them. They don't limit liability for our fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, where the law doesn't permit that limit.
11. Ending these Terms
- You can stop using JourneyReady at any time by deleting the app. Deleting it removes your study progress from your device (see the Privacy Policy).
- If you seriously or repeatedly break section 5 (for example, by copying, reselling or scraping the question bank), your licence ends and you must stop using the app and delete any copies of our content.
- We may stop offering or updating JourneyReady. Because the app works offline, an installed copy should keep working, but we can't promise it will work with future versions of iOS.
- Sections 5 (restrictions), 9, 10 and 12 continue after these Terms end.
12. Governing law and disputes
- These Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
- The courts of Alberta can hear disputes about them.
- If you're a consumer living elsewhere in Canada, you keep any rights under your own province's or territory's consumer protection laws that can't be waived, including any right to bring a claim where you live.
- We'd like to sort out any problem informally first, so please email us.
13. Age
JourneyReady's App Store age rating is 13+. If you're under 18 (or under the age of majority where you live, if that's higher), you need a parent's or guardian's permission to make in-app purchases.
14. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we handle and how. In short, the app works offline and doesn't send us your study data.
